F is for…..

Frederick, who has been removed because I want to use him for my Nano 2012 novel.

Sorry you missed it 😦

A-Z Challenge

Awwwww, that’s soooo sad 😦 I feel so sorry for old people who lose their partner 😦 So how can we cheer poor old Fred up? What does he need in his life? And, can you still even buy Bril Creme? Lol

Yesterday’s prompt about being sorry for something turned into a short monologue. I’ve been experimenting with monologues recently, so I’ll go into more detail next month, after the A-Z Challenge is done. I was pleased with it though. I had it in my head that it was written from a woman’s POV to her dead husband, who had committed suicide….happy little soul that I am lol. Today’s prompt is it was a late night and I know far too much about those πŸ˜‰

  1. Oh how I know this person well. My dearest best friend is 87 and i know she talks to her dead husband too. she never sees much of her family and very seldom her grands & greats. My husband and I care for her as if she was our own!We love her to death. Thanks for sharing I loved it!

    • Oh wow!!!!! Good on you πŸ™‚

I had an elderly neighbour who use to chat to me sometimes. She always sent us a Christmas card and a couple of years ago on the bottom of the card it said “you’re always welcome to pop in for a cup of tea.” I wrote back in our card that I would take her up on that. At the time I was working, a 45 minute drive each way, 3 kids, husband, 2 dogs….my life was busy busy busy. I didn’t see her for a couple of months and when I bumped into another neighbour they told me she had died 😦

I felt awful, still do…..I wish I’d made time for her now 😦

  2. Very poignant post. He sounds like a real sweetie. Maybe he’ll meet someone at the place he’s living. My dad did. I’m over form A to Z. Come say hi if you like (Catherine Stine’s Idea City).

    • Hi there πŸ™‚

      Doesn’t he just! Lol

I was brought up by grandparents who died when my kids we’re young. I wish my kids had had someone like Fred in their lives πŸ™‚

Yes, definitely, I don’t feel that he has a purpose in life, and he needs one πŸ™‚

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. My dad’s situation is very similar to Fred’s. He’s in a retirement home since my passed away in 2007. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary a couple of months before she succumbed to lymphoma. If you’re interested, I blogged about them at http://wp.me/p1tnDE-2m. I’d like to see Fred spend a summer visiting his sons and their families. maybe connecting with a particular grandchild who introduces Fred to the grandma on the other side. It’s never too late for romance.

    • Oh honey, I’m so sorry to hear that. Is he ok?

Oh yes, that would be lovely!!!!!

I was thinking that he needs someone young in his life, someone he can teach all his knowledge to….add to that a bit of romance….perfect πŸ™‚
