Today I start my seriously serious writing schedule lol. I’ll let you know how it’s going π
The lovely Jane Wenham Jones author of Wannabe A Writer? has a new project. She’s made a pilot episode for a TV show which follows “wannabe” writers on their journey to publication.
Check out the first part of episode one…it’s excellentπ
There’s a section on the site where you can put your name forward for a future episode (UK only I would presume) Fancy being a TV star?

Woohoo Vikki, good luck! I’ll be starting on a new book within the next two weeks, can’t wait to get back to writing ‘proper’. Yay, it’s nearly the end of the school holidays! Looking forward to following your journey… π

Best of luck with your seriously serious schedule. I hope you get to stick to it. Jane’s series could be very short these days unless she follows Indies since so few agents taking on and even fewer publishers willing to take a chance..xxx Massive Hugs xxx

I watched this yesterday and found myself thinking that it would have been more interesting if they’d chosen for the pilot someone with at least a bit of experience of writing and a completed ms – or a partially completed one with a decent outline. Carol Blake’s time seemed wasted on this – better to have taken the lovely new writer to a creative writing tutor, perhaps? And also – Carol Blake has taken on 2 clients in 6 years out of 3000 submissions? Why is anyone bothering? Still, good idea for TV show π

I was shocked about that Jo….2 new clients in 6 years? What the! *shakes head*
Doesn’t really give you much hope does it π¦

Good luck with your serious writing schedule, Vikki. I hope to be on a similar journey, but am struggling with writing at the moment. Can you share out some of your motivation?!
I watched some of this, but got frustrated and turned it off. What a fantastic opportunity to meet Carole Blake, and it seems a shame she was having to explain such elementary stuff as avoiding back story too soon and switching point of view. The interrupting was also incredibly irritating. I’m with Jo that it wasn’t the best use of Carole Blake’s time.

Ha ha ha, me, motivated? I’m probably the least motivated person I know!
No, seriously, I’m a HUGE advocate of writing EVERY SINGLE DAY, no excuses. You make time to brush your teeth, so you should make time to write, even if it’s only 10 minutes. That’s how I stay motivated, but making writing a habit π
It’ll be interesting to see who Jane picks for the next episode won’t it.

I don’t think I’d ever have the guts to be a part of a TV show. I’m shy and I’d be way too nervous. lol But good luck!!! π

Unlike my speedy application for the tv programme, yesterday I procrastinated about Discovery Day at Foyles Book Shop in November, which I read about in the latest Writers’ News. Decided to sleep on it overnight, due to my phobia of huge crowds. By today, after giving myself a ticking off for being a woose, I decided to apply and found all the places had been sold out already. Gone was my chance of a free one-to-one pitching to a literary agent. Worse still, the two agencies running the sessions, were the ones at the top of my list for submitting my novel to D:

What a shame. I know someone who went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Right, put it in your diary so that you have plenty of warning for next year π

Good luck with your seriously serious writing schedule! π I am trying to implement a “serious” writing schedule, too. As opposed to the “when I have time” schedule I follow now! That’s not working out so good!!

I’m in the sf bay area, so probably won’t get to see the show. But we’re not ‘wannabe’ writers anyway; we ARE writers! Good luck with your writing schedule – you’re inspiring me to up my writing time also.
