Week that is. I’m sure I saw it woosh by my ear, or was that one of the cats? *sighs*
It’s been 2 weeks since I had a cigarette. Is it getting easier? No, but at least it’s not getting harder lol. I was determined last Monday that I was going to get back to normal. Ha ha ha, yeah, right, it’s not happened. I’m sleeping more, eating more, reading more (books), writing less, and socialising less (online). If it wasn’t for this little bundle I’d probably wouldn’t get dressed!
Albies been my reason for getting up each morning, as I would quite happily just sit in bed all day and read.
So how do I get back on track? I’m finding it really difficult? Should I just have a break from everything and be done with it? So I don’t feel so guilty? But then what if I never get back into it? I’ve got Nano coming up and I need to prep, but I can’t find the motivation. Gawd, this sounds like an IWSG post lol.
Ok, I’ll stop whining, try to focus lol. Wish me luck 🙂
What are your writing plans for the week. Please share, it might get me fired up again 🙂
Good luck and lots of {{{HUGS}}}

I’m only commenting to say how sweet Albie looks and to encourage you not to give up re the non-smoking. I don’t have any writing plans except for thinking about various projects in my head as I garden etc. Sometimes it’s good to take a break…well that’s what I’m telling myself. Lol

I’ve been sidetracked by a painful dental issue since Tuesday so I haven’t done any writing related activities at all. I’m hoping to get back into it tonight and get some work done by Thursday when I’ve got further treatment.

Oh Dear, that whooshing sound gets even more prominent the older you get till Christmases are about 6 weeks apart. I’m sure you now my theory of stolen months. I wish I could et you fired up Vikki but to be honest I wouldn’t worry. Having so much running about your brain at the moment and giving up smoking is going to distract you so just consider it a short holiday for the brain which comes to an end on Saturday when you restart work again. Just work towards it and enjoy the week with Albie.

Writers need to read so if reading is what you feel like doing then there’s nothing wrong with doing that for a while and leaving the writing for a when you’re ready for it.
Good luck!

I am coming up to a year no smoking and still have days where it is hard, keep your chin up and just think of the extra stationary you can buy with the money you save xxx

Well done on getting so far. I have a short story to finish and NaNo to plan for. I agree with above, treat yourself to stationary or start saving towards a holiday. If you put the money away it’ll shock you how quickly it adds up.

Ah, yeah, i need to plan for Nano, but I’ve said that every week since the end of September and i still haven’t done it lol

Well, first of all you’re not whining – you’re sharing 🙂 Very different. Next, this is your body’s way of telling you to rest (you KNOW I know all about that). Giving up smoking is a huge thing, it’s right that it’s occupying your mind and your time and that you’re giving yourself time to readjust. In a couple of weeks, with Nano looming, you’ll come back and just get on with stuff. But until then give yourself permission to drop out a little. We’ll all be here when you come back 🙂
PS: Albie is sooooo cute! I love him x

Albie has such a cute face. 🙂 Congratulations on not smoking…that’s huge! I’d say take a break, but I’d think about taking too much of a break…it may just have you thinking about smoking more. No matter what you do, just hang in there. 🙂 I’m trying to take my own advice and hang in there as well. I have a couple of personal narrative pieces I’m finishing up to get out this week and other than that just journaling and random poetry as the mood strikes me.

Thanks Sabrina! Twenty days today 🙂

One of them. The other one I finished, but had second thoughts about submitting…oh, well. Last minute lack of confidence. I have a few deadlines I’m looking at for November, so I’ll keep on.Thanks for asking… 🙂

Yep and no critique partner. There’s a writing group near home, but I never get to go as I can’t leave my husband alone.

Keep it up Vikki. Your doing great. I got half of my Nano scene list written yesterday and hope to finish the other half before Friday. I decided to write a story that has been rolling around in the back of my head for 10 years. It is the back story to another story, that still needs to be written and I am thinking series. Have a great week!

Albie is just adorable! Motivation is hard. It’s not something you can fake or just whip up. If it’s low I think a conscious decision has to be made on whether a break is going to be taken – to recharge – or just making self put bum in seat attitude is to be adopted. Hopefully, either way, the motivation eventually returns.
I’m not getting much done either as I’m on a work related course. Frustrating.

Thanks Rebecca 🙂
I think you’re right, i need to recharge, but with Nano looming that ain’t happening until December lol
Hope the course was at least helpful.

I haven’t fought that particular battle, but according to a book I read recently on addiction, the first eight weeks is the toughest part. After that, your dopamine pathways should start to get somewhat back to normal, and it’ll be easier. Keep at it, it will get easier. Exercise will help too. Force yourself to go out for walks, if you’re not already doing so.
Writing wise, I’m finally back to my unfinished short story that’s been sitting there nagging me for six months. I really want to have it finished by the end of this month.

Don’t be afraid to have a complete break – I’ve done it several times for weeks on end and I find it does me a lot of good. When ideas start coming unbidden in the shower or you wake up feeling invigorated and ready to ‘go’ again, you know you’ve rested your muse! Well done with not smoking – be kind to yourself. When you’re securely a non-smoker you’ll be able to get back to your old routines (or make new ones!) xx

Now, before NaNo, is a great time to take a little writing rest. You’ll have plenty of time in November to write. 🙂 Sending you lots of love and encouragement on both fronts!

That’s awesome you have quit smoking and are sticking to it. 🙂 I think sometimes we all need time to re-charge. I had a month or two where I slept a lot and lost motivation to do much… it wasn’t fun, but we are human and therefore imperfect and sometimes we just cant write all the time. You’ve got plenty of inspiration and drive in you, Vikki. As you have shown in your most recent post. 🙂
