Another day, another letter…worn out yet? Im getting there i must admit. I had a blinding headache yesterday afternoon that seems to have continued into this morning. Im not used to using this many brain cells continuously 😉
So today is N day in the A-Z Challenge.
My random word for the day, incredibly, is Notebook ha ha ha 😉
“Ooo, look at this one, its hand stitched.” Sally’s eyes lit up as she stroked the cover of the notebook. “Its got some lined pages and some plain, i love that!” She giggled like a small child.
John sighed and made his way over to checkouts. He was used to being dragged into every stationary shop on the planet. Sally had to buy a new notebook every time they went out. He felt a hand on his back.
“Im going to have this one, oh, and this one, its only little so it doesn’t count, oh and this one has pockets, that will be very handy.” Sally stood before him with an armful of books.
John rolled his eyes and without a word handed over his wallet.
“Thanks darling.” Sally smiled and kissed him on the cheek. It was at that moment that John knew there was no way he would ever be as strong as Dr Breathnach required him to be. He had failed again, miserably.
Back at Cherry Tree Gardens Sally was out of the car and running up the garden path to the front door before John had even engaged the handbrake. He lent against the car and took out his cigarettes. He had only recently started smoking again, still, it was better than turning to alcohol. He took a deep drag of the cigarette and removed his mobile phone from his coat pocket.
“Dr Breathnach? Yes, its Mr Williams. Im sorry, i really can’t cope anymore, i think you’re right, we need help, i’ll sign the papers.”
Inside the house Sally sat in the middle of the living room floor. Around her piles of pristine unused notebooks. Everywhere was covered, the TV now buried. It had been months since they had been able to use the sofa to sit on. She picked up book after book, thumbing through the ivory pages, stroking the covers and inhaling the sweet scent of fresh paper. Picking up the carrier bag she took out the new books that had been purchased that day.
“Look darlings, you have some new friends to play with now.” Taking out the new notebooks she kissed them as she laid them on the floor in front of her crossed legs and smiled, pleased with her purchase. As she scooped them up close to her chest she laughed and didn’t see the black van that pulled up outside, or the 2 men dressed in white who were making their way up the garden path.
Awwwww, poor Sally, or is that poor John. Be warned notebook addicts, be warned 😉
Oh Dear! I quite like writing in notebooks!

Now I’ll have to keep an eye out for that black van. I love notebooks. I have ones with butterflies, glittery designs, a tree of life; small ones, regular size ones, soft cover and hard cover. Lime green, blood red, navy blue, purple . . . oh!

I hope you heed your own warning, Vikki, but I have to admit they are quite addictive. Is it just a woman thing or are men afflicted too?

I have to say *whispers* I am a bit of a hoarder…as I type I have 5 jam jars on my kitchen drainer. All washed, all empty…not 100% sure what I’ll do with them at the moment, but I’m sure they will come in handy 😉 xx

Oh, dear lord. That IS too close for comfort.
And yes. Positively exhausted. The A to Z thing seemed so easy in February or whenever it was announced, and it should have been, hehe. But it is not.
Best of luck with it!!
