Random Act Of Kindness BLITZ!

A smile. An encouraging word. A thoughtful gesture. Each day people interact with us, help, and make our day a bit brighter and full. This is especially true in the Writing Community.

Take a second to think about writers you know, like the critique partner who works with you to improve your manuscript. The writing friend who listens, supports and keeps you strong when times are tough. The author who generously offers council, advice and inspiration when asked.

So many people take the time to make us feel special don’t they? They comment on our blogs, re-tweet our posts, chat with us on forums and wish us Happy Birthday on FaceBook.

Kindness ROCKS!

To commemorate the release of their book The Emotion Thesaurus Becca and Angela at The Bookshelf Muse are hosting a TITANIC Random Act of Kindness BLITZ. And because I think KINDNESS is contagious, I’m participating too!

So, I am Blitzing 3 people who have really contributed to my writing life 🙂

Firstly Rob who is my constant advisor, critique partner and who keeps me strong when times are tough. Thank you for keeping me going, for your encouragement and support when I’ve been so full of self doubt at times. There will be a little something arriving in the post for you soon.

Secondly Jayne Curtis who listens and offers great advice. Jayne, there will be a little something arriving in the post from Amazon for you within the next couple of days.

Thirdly Elizabeth Haynes for your constant advice, encouragement and inspiration. When you’re done with that diet we’re going out for a slap up meal, my shout!

And last but by no means least….. I would like to thank you guys, my followers. It’s your comments on my blog that keep me going. I’ll just say here and now that if there is EVER anything I can help with, just give me a shout, e mail me, or contact me through FaceBook. I really do appreciate your support and would love to give something back if I can. You are all very very special. 🙂

Do you know someone special that you’d like to randomly acknowledge? Don’t be shy, come join us and celebrate! Send them an e mail, give them a shout out, or show your appreciation in another way. Kindness makes the world go round

Becca and Angela have a special RAOK GIFT waiting for you as well, so hop on over to The Bookshelf Muse to pick it up.

Have you ever participated in or been the recipient of a Random Act of Kindness? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Neat idea. No, I’ve never specifically participated in this endeavor. But I guess when I’m running around blogosphere, I definitely do my share of shout-outs about those writers who have helped me one way or another. Plus I try to take advantage of the award that go around, and make sure I’m honoring those bloggers who have made a difference for me.

  2. What a great idea, to see RAKs take on the writing world (or vice versa). When I worked within the Scrapbooking industry, RAKs were big, and I received a couple from anon in my own mailbox – hand-created things. I did a lot of them myself, also leaving random handmade crafting objects like altered cards in books left on cafe tables, with messages to the new owners to brighten their day, I hoped.

Will definately put my mind to how to properly Rak and surprise writers I am finding in my own new writing life. People like you, Vikki. 😉

  4. Hi Vikki, stumbled across the Bookshelf Muse long before I began blogging and think it’s a great site. I totally agree with those random acts of kindness which includes taking the time to comment on others’ posts, passing along awards and staying positive. Thanks for the tip on the Bookshelf Muse — I’ll be certain to visit. :).

  6. I’m a day late, but kindness comes every day, doesn’t it? Critique partners and beta-readers are the salt of the earth 🙂
