50 Things

I am now officially 2 days behind with reading Blogs, about 3 days behind with e mails and poor old Bel (I’m so sorry honey) is still waiting for her prize. The last 2 days have been a mare and the next couple of days don’t look much better! I will catch up, even if I have to do an all nighter!

And now I’ve got that off me chest, some of my keen eyed readers may have noticed a new page thats appeared above? No? Ok, well I’m shamelessly stealing Paula Actons idea 😉

I have a 101 list, of all the things I want to do in life, a bucket list, but I very rarely tick anything off lol. So perhaps if I try to do 50 before I hit 50, I may stand a better chance? After all, I’ve got 5 years 5 months lol.

That’s 10 a year right? Ooooo, errrr, I think I better get moving! 😉

Go have a peek at my 50 Before 50 list and let me know if there’s any there you’ve done…. Would love to hear about your experiences or whether you have your own “bucket list”

  1. I really should throw together a list of my own some time, my wife and I want to visit various parts of Europe at some point. She’s only been to Canada and I’ve only crossed into international waters while traveling up the coast… from your list there are a lot I would love to do.

Here are the ones I’ve done:
Go to New York. (does traveling through on the river count?) See an opera. Attend an auction. Learn to meditate. Get a qualification. Have my palm read. Be able to draw/sketch. Learn to ride my bike! Learn to dance. Start a collection/collecting something (other than books!). Start volunteering again.

  2. I love the list! I’ve started compiling my travel bucket list and currently it includes visiting:
    Iceland
    the Galapagos Islands
    Easter island
    Chile
    Argentina
    Turkey
    Morocco
    Antarctica
    Machu Picchu
    Egypt
    Brazil
New Zealand (only because my sister’s there)
    Barbados

My other bucket list is fairly sparse at the moment. It only contains:
    go to grad school
    become a librarian
get into the International School system (and live in some countries mentioned above…)
complete 12 novels in a year
    become a published novelist
    complete my travel bucket list

I’ve done a few of the items on your list and I really enjoyed every experience. You’ve picked great adventures! Good luck and enjoy!

  3. What a great list. Visiting New York is up near the top of my bucket list and I’m very thrilled to be able to say I’ve done a sky dive. I’d really love to do it again though. It’s an amazing feeling. You’ll love it!

  4. I’ve done 13 of those! (I’m including the photos my husband took of me for publicity stuff as the professional photo shoot as he is a professional photographer.)

  5. Your 50 before 50 list sounds like so much fun! (Well, except the massage. For some reason those always have struck me as creepy. 😛 )

I love estate auctions and have found some really cool deals. The hot air balloon ride is something I definitely want to do.

Good luck! I bet you’re going to have a blast crossing things off this list!!

  6. I’m WAY behind in catching up with blogs as well, Vikki.

I love your list (there’s a lot you want to do!) I must have a weekend writing retreat somewhere near the sea and I’m adding that to my bucket list! ;).

  7. Okay Vikki, since I am so happy to be back after my computer kicked the bucket … I’ll engage those first ten:

1.Run a 5K marathon … THE ONLY WAY I’LL “RUN” IS IF I’M BEING CHASED BY A CRAZED KILLER IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT.
2.Travel the World … WOULD MUCH PREFER TO TRAVEL THROUGH THE US AND THEN AGAIN … I’M VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD. ONCE TOLD MY BROTHER, THE WORLD TRAVELER, THAT THE ONLY WAY I’D VISIT THE MIDDLE EAST WAS IF THE PLANE I WAS ON GOING TO MIAMI BEACH WAS HYJACKED.
3.Swim with Dolphins … CAN SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS ONLY A SHORT HOUR FROM HERE AND HAVE THAT ON MY LIST FOR NEXT SUMMER.
4.Open a Cupcake Cafe … I’VE HAD A FOOD BUSINES AND WOULD RATHER STICK NEEDLES IN MY EYES THAN DO ANOTHER. HOWEVER, I DO ADORE CUPCAKES AND WILL VISIT YOUR CAFE.
5.Go to Art School … AFRAID I FIND IT CHALLENGING TO DRAW STICK PEOPLE.
6.Play an Instrument … BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT AND IT’S EMPOWERING
7.Speak another language fluently … ONCE I MASTER ENGLISH AND ITALIAN … I MIGHT TACKLE SPANISH AND FRENCH … FOR NOW I’M CHOPPY IN ITALIAN AND MY NATIVE ENGLISH IS A DAILY CHALLENGE.
8.Open up a Public Relations agency … I WORKED IN COMMUNITY RELATIONS FOR TWENTY YEARS AND THE ONLY TIME I WANT TO ENGAGE THE PUBLIC THESE DAYS IS IN THE SUPERMARKET.
9.Learn Yoga … STUDIED YOGA FROM A TEEN AND IT IS A JOURNEY WORTH TAKING.
10.Own an exotic animal … THE ONLY ANIMALS I’VE HAD ARE DOGS AND CATS, MY EX HUSBAND AND TWO KIDS … I DON’T THINK ANY OF THEM QUALIFY AS “EXOTIC” AND THESE DAYS I WANT TO BE THE ONLY LIVING BREATHING BEING IN MY HOUSE WHO NEEDS MY TLC.

Want to travel the breath of Canada on the rails from Quebec to Vancouver, want to ride down the Colorado River and travel the full length of the Mississippi River, want to see the high country of the Rocky Mountains, eat craw fish in Lousianna, ribs in Chicago, lobsters in Maine and see where the Pacific meets the Rockies in the Pacific Northwest. Want to take a roller coaster vacation and go on as many of the best and most exciting roller coasters in the US. Want to travel by train across the US, ride a little scooter to the supermarket (not motor cycle thank you), take a hot hair baloon over the organge hills of New Mexico, take an RV down the lengh of the west coast from Washington state to Baha. I have a date to parasail above the ocean in August … right before I swim with the dolphins, of course, this water baby must at one time sit on the beaches of every state on the east coast.
There must be a dozen more but for those are tops on my list.

  8. Like others, my bucket list is mainly travel related.
Your list is impressive! From those, I can claim musical instrument/New York/hot air balloon/ Blackpool/massage/bike/volunteering. Christmas in Switzerland might count too.
I’m not sure I’m ever going to discover my life’s purpose, but I’ll settle for 12 months at a time. And you should simply eat tonnes of cheese, then declare yourself an expert!
