Come Fly With Me

Today’s picture prompt was taken at the airport on a recent holiday.

Who’s flying where?

I’ll share what it inspired me to write on Tuesday 🙂

On A Mission

I read recently on Joanne Phillips blog, about having an “Authors Mission Statement” 🙂 Do go and check it out if you haven’t seen it.

Sooooo, I’ve been trying to come up with my own he he he! it’s been blooming hard I can tell you.

I write about the ups and downs of ordinary life. I’m fascinated by how people respond, emotionally, so I throw problems at my characters, to see how they will deal with them. I don’t always write happy endings. For me, a satisfactory ending is far more important. In real life, not everything turns out the way we planned or hoped and the same is true for my characters. I don’t claim to be a master of literature. My writing is easy to read, down to earth and straightforward. I don’t need to change the world, but if I manage to help one reader realise that they are not alone, I will be more than happy.

Ha ha ha….that kinda sounds depressing doesn’t it? Not sure that should be my Mission Statement for Mills & Boon, they’d be mortified! Lol

Do you have a mission statement? If not, fancy giving it a go?

You Know You’re A Writer When…..

The Romaniac’s posted a blog entry entitled You Know You’re A Writer When If you haven’t checked it out, do….it’s very amusing 🙂 Then Roger Colby did a similar post, Because You Are A Writer

20120712-080614.jpg
So go have a peek, then come back here and tell me You Know You’re A Writer When…..?

Mine would be….

You know you’re a writer when it used to be that you wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without putting your make up on. Now, you wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without a notebook and pen, sod the makeup!

OR

You know you’re a writer when hubby informs you that he’s run out of clean underpants!

So how do you know you’re a writer?

Celebrating Bloggers Blog Hop

Today I’m taking part in Terri Giuliano Long’s Blog Hop to celebrate bloggers and blogging 🙂 Check out who else is participating here 🙂

So why do I blog?

I’ve been mulling this question over for a few days now, and there is no direct answer. So, as I’m a lover of lists, a list it will have to be 😉

1. Because I love the community aspect of it. I’ve loved the friendships and connections I’ve made through my blog.

2. To develop, practice and hone my writing skills. This has been really good practice and I feel that I’ve gained so much from the comments I receive when I share my work.

3. To develop my voice. This has been incredibly useful and has boosted my confidence in myself.

4. To learn. I have learnt so much from the other writers I follow 🙂

5. To share what I’ve learnt. I love sharing tips and info. I’m very much a people person and I love to help others. If I manage to inspire just one person every so often, I’ll die a happy bunny 🙂

So now, this is my opportunity to say…..

And talking about loving the whole blogging community, the winner of a PDF copy of The Emotion Thesaurus is……Mandy Eve Barnett CONGRATULATIONS honey!

So tell me…..why do you blog?

The To Do List – 10th to 16th September

Well, hello September! 🙂

It’s actually my favourite month. Not too warm (I burn easily see), not too cold (I’m always cold, ask the hubby). It’s just perfect 🙂

Yeah yeah, I know it’s been September for a while now, but I’ve had hubby at home on “staycation” so things have been a little up in the air. It’s good to get back to normal, if you know what I mean 🙂

I didn’t do a “to do list” last week, there wasn’t really much point. I did manage to achieve most of what was on the previous list though 🙂 So, this week….let’s see 🙂

1. Finish current read and start Tim Lotts book. Tim is my tutor at Faber, so I should really read at least one of his books shouldn’t I?

2. Carry on with the planning of Sorrento Sunrise Yes, yes, I know it’s a naff title, but this is Mills & Boon remember 😉

3. Sort out stuff I need to do for new writing group. Very exciting, and more about that at a later date when it’s all set up!

4. Continue reading romance guides. I’ve got about 6 on the go at the moment lol

5. Do a timetable inc setting aside time for exercise. *groans* I have a severe case of writers bum, so I need to get back to the gym 😦

6. Start the diet again. Oh dear, note the word again lol

7. Keep up to date with my prompts.

There, that shouldn’t be too hard should it? 😉

what are you up to this week?

Six Sentence Sunday 9th September

Another little snippet from one of my daily writing prompts 🙂

“Ok, ok, I give in, take the bloody Blur CD’s!”

I hated this part of a breakup, that exhausting moment where things had to be divided up.

“No, I’m sorry, not the stereo.”

I held the phone away from my ear, for fear of permanent damage. Finally, she paused for breath.

“For God’s sake Tara, take the fucking stereo, just take everything!”

I haven’t really worked out what’s going on here, but, needless to say, he’ll probably go home to find a completely empty flat lol 😉 Why is Tara so angry?

What is a Liebster Anyway?

No picture prompt today as next Tuesday I’m taking part in a blog hop 🙂 I’m so conscious of avoiding doing more than one post a day. I know how hard it is for most of us to keep up as it is lol 😉

I’ve been nominated by the lovely Sara Flower for The Liebster Award 🙂

20120829-071153.jpg
Thank you soooo much honey!🙂 Please go and check out Sara’s blog, you won’t be dissapointed!

Now, I’ve seen this award floating about, can anyone actually tell me what it means? Lol

I think I’ve been nominated for it by someone else recently, so if that was you, shout so I can link back to your blog and do a thank you (I’ve been so lapse recently with keeping track of things) 😦

Anyway…..onto…

The Rules:

Answer the eleven questions your nominator posed to her/his nominees.
Pass the award on to eleven others.

Ok, ok, so I’m going to play by the rules this time 😉

What keeps you writing when you have writer’s block?
Well, I don’t really suffer from writers block, I have the complete opposite, too many ideas floating around in my head. I can always find something to write about, always.

Most writers have a literary counterpart—a character from their stories who reflects themselves. Tell us about yours.
There is always an element of myself in all my female characters. Some, much more than others, but I don’t have a specific counterpart.

What are your passions?
Family, people (I find everyone interesting), learning, love and writing 🙂

You’ve had a fight with your significant other and you want to fix things.
Ha ha ha…..are you reading this dear? Lol….. A cuddle is a good place to start 😉

What’s one injustice you see in the world that you would fix in a story?
Wow, that’s a difficult one! I’m not sure to be honest. I tend to write about loneliness and depression a lot, so I guess it would be the injustice of life.

If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
Only one? Wow, that’s hard lol. Ok, I’d love to have my own writing room 🙂

What’s important to you at this point in time?
Being the best writer that I can be.

Who is your hero/heroine?
From a writing point of view, or in general? In general it would have to be Princess Diana….now don’t laugh 😉 Seriously! I think she was a fantastic woman, she wasn’t scared of hugging people with AIDS, she shook our royal family up big time and she had a huge effect on the British people. When she died, things changed, it was like a lightbulb moment for the UK.

Do you make it a habit of telling others what you thought of their work, even if your experience wasn’t good?
I try to be gentle, I hate being too critical. So, I try to give a positive to every negative if I can.

What is good will?
Hmmmmm, don’t they say “Good will to all men” or something? I guess it’s about being nice to everyone, treating others how you would wish to be treated yourself.

What would it take for you to make friends with an old enemy?
I only have a couple of people I would actually consider enemies and there is no way in this world (or the next) that I would ever make friends with them again. There are certain things that are unforgivable in my opinion. Some hurts can never heal 😦

And now, here are my nominees. Looking forward to your answers 😉

The Big Reveal *drum roll* Project Desk!

Ok, ready, this is exciting!!!!!!

I HAVE A DESK! Sorry, just had to shout lol. Well, ok, it’s not exactly a desk, more like a small table lol. But it’s my small table, in my little corner *grins* 🙂

It’s taken a lot of reorganisation. We had to find a new space for the reading chair (otherwise known as the cats chair) so that has now gone in the living room. Then I had to clear 4 shelves of fiction TBR’s (to be reads) so some of them got packed in boxes, hubby’s went in piles down his side of the bed, mine, down my side of the bed. So now I have about 5 boxes of books at the bottom of my bed that I have to manoeuvre round to actually get to the desk. My bedroom has become an obstacle course, but I don’t care. I HAVE A DESK! lol. Sorry, can you tell I’m thrilled 😉

20120828-063756.jpg

Sooooo, now, I’m all set to write that brilliant best seller that’s gunna make me a fortune right? 😉

Where Do You Write?

Well, now I’ve finished with my guesters (a HUGE thank you to everyone who took part) I can conclude that:

1. The bed is very popular

2. Anywhere seems to be the ok

3. I made myself jealous lol

In a nice way of course. I guess the whole exercise made me realise that I needed to get organised. I was fed up writing at the dining room table. I was fed up not being able to get to all my stuff when I needed it (ie working from piles) and I was fed up moaning about it. I needed to take action. I needed to get my shit together (pardon my French).

Sooooo, I made plans 😉 More on that tomorrow *squeals*

In the meantime, check out Ross Gales video….the bath…..really? Lol

Ross created this video for Jeff Goins “I Am A Writer” competition where he received the accolade of 1st Runner Up (to Dustin’s video, remember that?).

And here was my absolutely pathetic writing space *mutter grumble mutter* whilst I was hearing about some of your lovely desks! Lol

20120713-092423.jpg
I hated it with a passion lol….it was getting me down.

Check out Sara Flowers Blog where she asks her readers about their writing spaces. Seeee, I’m not the only nosey one 😉

Also, Simon Whaley’s blog, where he talks about the importance of having your own space.

Sooooo, if you didn’t take part in my guest posts, and didn’t share info on where you write, I ask the question Tell me, where do you write?
